Professional Associations Super, of which Accountants Super is a division of, has announced a 12-month partnership with Paceline Inc to help the organisation raise awareness and funds for cardiac arrhythmia.
Megan Bolton, CEO of Professional Associations Super, said that as the foundation sponsor of the newly-incorporated Paceline Inc, the Fund will partner with the organisation on a number of initiatives in the coming 12 months.
“We’ve experienced first-hand the important work that Paceline does through our previous involvement of the Paceline ride, the organisation’s major fundraising initiative each year,” said Ms Bolton.
“Paceline’s fundraising initiatives support two organisations - the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute. Both organisations work towards a better understanding of the cause and cures of cardiac arrhythmias, and we’re looking forward to helping raise awareness and funds for research into this common condition,” she said.
Paceline’s key fundraising event for 2011 is the upcoming Paceline ride, where approximately 25 riders will complete a 1,200km race from Canberra to Melbourne through the Snowy Mountains. The ride started on 12 November and will finish on 19 November, and has a fundraising target of $250,000.
Steve Quinn, Founder of Paceline, said Professional Associations Super’s sponsorship would help raise much needed awareness for cardiac arrhythmia.
“Cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, affect a large percentage of the population. In fact, atrial fibrillation alone affects 1 in 4 Australians over the age of 40,” said Mr Quinn.
“Despite this, cardiac arrhythmias don’t have the same profile as other disorders, so one of the key objectives of the Paceline ride is to raise awareness of this common condition,” he said.
“Professional Associations Super’s sponsorship of this event, as part of their wider sponsorship over the next year, will raise awareness among their own members, many of whom fit the demographic of those who could be affected by the condition.”
Donations to Paceline can be made online at www.paceline.com.au, where information about the Paceline ride and the illness can also be found.
